Your New Puppy or Rescue Dog needs management until good habits are formed.
Has your new puppy or rescue dog already moved in and “Mischief” is his middle name!
Whether you are just getting prepared for your new puppy or rescue dog, or you are already in knee deep. It’s never too soon or too late to get yourself set up for success. After all, this new bundle of furry love will have great impact on your daily joy or frustration.
There are simple steps you can put in place for managing your new puppy or rescue dog. Until she has learned the skills for being a joyful addition to your family, it’s always in your best interest to prevent rehearsal of the wrong stuff.
Manage Your Pup until she can manage…
The Four P’s
Planning – Take a close look around your house. Make a list of everything you see that could get your new puppy or rescue dog into big trouble.
Preparation – Check off each item on your list as you put solutions in place. Set yourself up to manage your new puppy or rescue dog until you teach and he learns the skills that will bring you both joy.
Perseverance – Stay the course! Be as consistent as you can muster while training your puppy or dog. Teach your new puppy or rescue dog exactly what you like. Keep those management solutions in place, until the right skills are solid.
Patience – It takes some doing and practice for your new puppy or rescue dog to learn the do’s and don’ts. We promise your furry friend is not out to get into trouble. She just needs to be taught and needs lots of repetition to get it right…just like us!
Planning and Preparation sets things in place for success. Perseverance and Patience comes much easier when management keeps your new puppy or rescue dog from becoming a source of endless frustration. You CAN do this and the payoff is big – A joyful life with your adorable dog!
Until next time, Have Fun & Enjoy Your Dog!
